As the only lodge on a 3,000+ acre lake, Castlebar Lake Lodge offers the fishing experience of a remote fly-in, but with the convenience of a drive-in. The lake is home to walleye, northern pike, brook trout, perch, and white fish. Cast a line for a 40+ inch northern pike, who love the lakes’ rock beds, weed beds, and fallen trees. Reel in a tender, flaky perch, which can reach up to two pounds. Head to where the river connects Castlebar Lake with Proctor Lake and drop a line for walleye or brook trout. No matter where you drop a line, it’s easy to see why Castlebar is a prime Canada fishing destination.
Guests can fish from the comfort of their own boats, with overnight docking and charging stations available. Or, rent one of Castlebar’s 14-foot or 16-foot aluminum boats with 9.9 motors.
After hauling in that catch, guests can clean and freeze the fish in Castlebar’s screened-in cleaning station. The cleaning station is prepped with a sink and a large, table-sized cutting board. Guests have access to a walk-in cooler, with ice included at no extra cost.
After a day on the lake, relax in a sunroom with a view. Fry up that catch in a fully stocked kitchen, or toss some filets on the grill. Each cabin is also equipped with its own three-piece bathroom — guests don’t have to share a single bathhouse. Turn in at the end of the day in a comfortable bunk — there are more fish to catch tomorrow.
